Grace
Ministries
Around the World
August 2008
- In Africa - Dr. Sam Vinton, executive
director of Grace Ministries International, left for Tanzania on July 22.
During his 16 days in the country, he will be meeting with GMI missionaries
and the Tanzania Grace Church leaders and teaching a seminar for pastors and
their wives. On August 8, he will travel to Malawi with Steve Sherman and
three Tanzanian church leaders where he will visit some of the new churches
in the southern part of Malawi. From the 12th to the 16th of August, he will
take part in the All Africa Grace Leadership Conference which will be led
by Pastors Ken Parker and Gary Leyendecker. Pray for safety and the blessings
of the Lord on all who attend the conference. Dr. Vinton is scheduled to arrive
back in the States on August 17.
- Praise from Uruguay - Ricki Anne
Zanella writes: “We are excited to see how ‘Project Jeremiah’ has the youth
motivated to know God more, live His Word, memorize books of the Bible and
verses, and serve others. They are working towards a mission trip to Bolivia.
Our greatest desire is that this project will be used by God to mark their
lives in a way that changes their lives forever...committed and conformed
to Christ.”
- Titus and Kristy Lloyd - Praise
the Lord that Titus and Kristy and family are scheduled to leave for Zambia
on September 2, the Lord willing. Pray that they will arrive safely and settle
quickly into their new ministries.
- Advances in Bolivia - Talo Vergara
is excited to see the way a missionary heart is slowly growing among the Bolivia
churches. The “Jesucristo Vive Church” in Santa Cruz has been doing an evangelistic
outreach in a small village two hours away for the past year. Recently many
people from the church conducted a three-night evangelistic campaign and it
was great to see God working there. Talo and several other pastors did the
preaching at night, and during the day they visited the villagers’ homes where
they were able to share the Gospel. Please pray for this outreach as a church
plant is envisioned in the future.
- Returning to Congo - Bill and
Sue Vinton thank the Lord that Laura finished her tenth grade at Rift Valley
Academy in Kenya and had a good and safe trip to Grand Rapids as she flew
by herself for summer vacation. Pray for Bill and Sue as they make final preparations
to return to Congo on September 10, the Lord willing.
- WCGB Radio - Recently one of
WCGB’s programmers had a “chance” encounter with Roberto, a man who manages
a small mall parking lot in Poncé. When Roberto heard the programmer’s
radio tuned to WCGB he said he has been listening to the station faithfully
for five years and wanted to know how he could contribute financially to the
station. PTL for the way His Word touches lives through WCGB.
- Tanzania Camp Report - PTL for
the 75 campers who placed their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ during the
three camps led by Brook Seekins. PTL for the growth seen in the counselors.
Pray that they will develop into good leaders in our churches.
- Northside Grace Home Church (Australia)
- PTL that the ministry team of the new group in North Sydney has been given
permission to set up a table in the huge Westfield Shopping Mall in Hornsby.
This future outreach will aid in getting information about the church and
free New Testaments into the hands of many people of the area. Pray for this
outreach.
- Update from Puerto Rico - Praise
the Lord for doubling the number of campers this summer from last year. Pray
for Jon Marshall and his colleagues as they follow up on the campers this
fall. PTL for the ministry of Alex Gulart in the barrio with John Cox and
for the three girls who believed on the Lord Jesus. Pray especially for these
girls who do not have a good home situation.
- Good News from Carl Moyer - Carl
Moyer (Zambia) wants to thank all who prayed for him. He is feeling normal
again and able to carry a full load. He asks for prayer for the missionary
conference that will be held in Kabwe the first week of August and for him
and others who will be going to Malawi on August 11 for a special conference.
- Container Has Arrived - After
seven months of frustrations and even despair about the possibility that the
40-foot container shipped last fall to Tanzania from Grand Rapids was lost,
stolen or destroyed, the container was delivered in Sumbawanga. While many
things were broken and lost (photocopiers, computers, electric keyboards,
and other supplies), Chad Zuber is praising the Lord that many supplies did
arrive safely and are already being used. Chad wants to express his thanks
to all who gave and prayed for this project
